In a very hot spot, and loving it. Guess I'm someone else's anti-Valentine trash to be burnt.
This one just turned out gorgeous!
Well, I'm finally getting around to blogging again. Quite a lot has been going on in first as well as in second lives, but here I am. Valentine's Day was interesting - Cefin's gift was to get kicked out of school again; Ioan didn't bother to contact me. Good thing I'm not overly sentimental. I got some lovely flowers from Veles, and from Soliel, and I shopped with Lumi - she gave me a fluffy kitty! I did not go Steelhead's Anti-Valentine's Day dance, but I visited the Bonfire of Contempt (I firmly believe that contempt is the opposite of romance) while it was still burning in Ms. Burton's yard. Photos of that should show up here sometime, somewhere. Oh! There they are, up on top. One of these years, I'll figure out how to jazz things up a bit. For right now I'm lucky if I get WORDS on the page for you, my beloved reader.
I've been shopping like mad, trying to get everything ready for the treehouse warming party, which ALL readers of this blog should by now know is happening on SATURDAY, the 30th of February. Or March 1, if you insist. Or if you have the Steelhead 2008 calendar, it is on the 30th of Darien Mason, or the first of Hawc DeCosta. Such a yummy way to keep track of the days. But somewhat distracting.
As noted in previous blog entries, the treehouse is amazingly beautiful. Lunar did a phenomenal job (as he always does). There are still some items I have been working on, with substantial help from several friends: innumerable thanks to Annechen Lowey, Kara Timtam, sister Tanarian, and that tiny but amazingly well-armed gummy bear (that would be the Empress of All Things, Tensai Hilra). Kara fiddled with the waterfalls and pools while I was messing around with the alluvial edges, preparing to make a salon for the Merfolk as well as for my own use when I am in my mermaid frame of mind. Annechen arrived and plowed a delightfully cavernous basement, which is still a work in progress. Annechen and I sent shopping and I bought a little volcano.... my thought for the MerSalon is to have one side of it molten, the other side gelid, with the entry way a happy medium. I'm also contemplating digging a hole all the way across the street to my other property. I don't know how much will be done in time for the party, but the dancesets have been ready for weeks and weeks. They've even had an occasional trial.
RadioRiel will be providing DJ service for both sessions of the housewarming party. I believe that the delightful Diamanda Gustafson will be spinning discs for one or both sessions. I sent a list of music I'd like to hear at the party; no idea as yet how much of it they will be able to find and fit in, but expect some unusual tunes from a wide variety of genres. And if I hear ANY Stevie Nicks, someone will die. Soliel Snook and Jomander Trefoil will be co-hosting. Speaking of Soliel, I have also retained her services for landscaping around the treehouse. She has free rein with my only comment that I like vivid colors and productive plants (like fruits). I've been waiting for the weather to warm sufficiently for the fucshia to flourish. I met Ms. Snook at her grand opening party in Stormhold, at which time I asked about fuschia. That was last year in winter, and I have been waiting somewhat impatiently for the proper time for fucshia ever since. I have made a number of purchases from her shop - my favorite being an arch covered with intermixed red and white roses. No idea where to put it; perhaps I should drop it in the yard and let Soliel have her way.
I have been shopping quite a lot, too. I joined the FashCon group, and have since then spent a part of every day chasing freebies and spending tons of lindens throughout the known world. Sorting inventory is also on my list of things to get to sometime. Presently hovering near the 24K mark. AFTER the party, I'll find out about boxing things up and getting them out of my inventory altogether. It's not like I really NEED to drag that human-sized hamster wheel around with me everywhere I go.
One of the best spots I found in my shopping expeditions has been Bare Rose. Nifty stuff, much unisex, great prices and TRANSFERRABLE. I know that Al has been out in one outfit I found for him, but I haven't seen or heard from Gotke about the items I got for him. Gotke had gotten me some shoes from there, already. I'll find another spot for LMs and other reviews in another blog entry, if I can. Right now, it's time to chivvy Cefin up for bathtime, which means my evening chores are just beginning.

Frau Davies,
I hope you found the vivid purple willow tree amusing, even if it has no appropriate place in your garden. I know how fond you are of the colour. I apologise for not finding purple roses for you, however.

I have to scrape up some time to get back there and finish working on those walls! :/ I haven't even got a chance to look at the mer-cave yet.
